David's 25-year technology career spans the full arc of enterprise software — from building large-scale e-commerce systems for Fortune 100 clients in the early internet era, through enterprise middleware and business process management at Oracle, Lombardi Software, and Cognizant, to distributed systems and observability at Cloudera, Hortonworks, InfluxData, and Grafana Labs. Along the way he led Solutions Engineering and Professional Services teams, earned Sales Engineer of the Year, and developed and taught the inaugural course of the University of Washington's Graduate Big Data Program. His 11 years of military service with the U.S. Navy and Army — including combat deployments to Iraq in 1990 and 2004 as a Civil Affairs Officer — and published research on information and network warfare give him an operational perspective that runs through everything Merlin Drones builds.
Guy Nae is a seasoned technology executive with over 25 years of experience leading digital transformation and large-scale infrastructure projects globally. As a co-founder, he brings a strategic focus on autonomous systems, national security, and public-sector efficiency, combining strong academic and executive training with deep experience delivering scalable government solutions. He is a strong advocate for deploying reliable, impactful intelligent systems and is driven by a belief that technology should improve quality of life by addressing critical real-world challenges. Based in Mexico City, he continues to lead initiatives advancing the role of technology in the public sector.
